My name is Karen and I am a British Voiceover Artist based in a small village in the Peak District famous for rock climbing and caving terrain. When I’m not roaming the hills with my two daughters and Border Collie, Nell, I can be found in my broadcast quality home studio (much more comfortable than a dark Derbyshire cave!).
I am a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with a background of working in the NHS, as a specialist in voice disorders and lecturer in vocal function and voice production.
I also have many years of experience as a freelance voice therapist and vocal coach.
I studied saxophone and singing up to Grade 8 and played in several orchestras and Big Bands. Music gave me the opportunity to travel internationally and to perform as a singer, musician and presenter on stage and on the radio.
My voice is versatile but is often described as warm, friendly, reassuring and playful.
My natural accent is a gentle, general Northern English, having lived for most of my in the North West (Manchester/Lancashire) and North East (Newcastle, South Yorkshire).
With a combined background of performance and speech therapy, communication is my strong point. I approach every job with creativity, flexibility, an open mind and a sense of humour with the aim of providing a voice which resonates with the specific needs of each project.
Many of our voice actors follow our pricing schedule, but you'll find that rates are negotiable, so if you let them know what you can afford, there's a good chance they'll accommodate you!
